Club By-laws
Effective January 1, 2003
Article I
Section I: Official Name:
The club shall be known as “Hollywood Knights, Erie Chapter”.
Section II: Objective:
The objective of the club is to promote the hobby to all car enthusiasts.
Article II
Section IV: Membership:
Membership is limited to owners of American Classic, Performance and
Custom rear wheel drive vehicles.
Current and prospective members and their vehicles will reflect and
promote a good club image.
Section V: Agreement for Membership:
All members shall be active members and be at least 21 years of age,
unless the member is an immediate family member of an active club member.
All active members will receive a membership card, monthly email newsletter,
and other club privileges.
All spouses are accepted as members through the admission of their husband/wife
to the club, but if the spouse decides to leave the club or is voted
out, the wife/husband does not retain their membership.
Perspective members must pass the requirements set by the Membership
Committee, and attend 2 consecutive meetings to be voted in. The president
or officers can defer this requirement for work reasons or other special
circumstances.
Perspective members will first be accepted by the Membership Committee
and then must receive a majority vote from the active club members at
the second meeting.
Perspective members will be sponsored by current active members, keeping
in mind, that any perspective members and their vehicle should present
a good club image.
Each January, membership renewal forms will be filled out, dues paid,
and at this time the club officers will evaluate each member to determine
if they are in good standing with the club.
All members will receive a copy of the by-laws and will become familiar
with them.
Resignations will be in writing to the club and at this time all club
property entrusted to the member will be returned in full.
Resignation/Termination forfeits the right to display the club logo
on the exiting member’s vehicles. Stickers should be removed as soon
as possible following resignation/termination.
Section VI: Discipline
and Terminations:
Any active member not having paid
their dues by Feb 14th may be terminated.
Any active member failing to meet club standards for attendance, participation,
and behavior as described in Article III, may be terminated.
Officers have the deciding vote in all matters dealing with termination.
If a majority vote ends in a tie, the president’s vote will be used
as a tiebreaker.
Article III
Section VII: Club Standards:
No active member will display conduct unbecoming to the club. Each case
will be individually reviewed by club officers for decision.
Convictions for any actions deemed not acceptable by the club will be
grounds for termination.
Club emblems will be displayed at all cruises, races and shows to promote
and advertise the club.
Club shirts, jackets, etc. should be worn to cruises, races and shows
to identify club members. Jackets & Button down shirts will be limited
to active members only.
Charges for any conduct not acceptable by the club will be recorded
and kept in club files. Charges need not be made public to all members.
Officers can decide when to announce any problems to the membership.
All charges and any communication between parties will be documented
and kept on file.
Alcohol will be excluded from all club events and functions.
Members are responsible for the conduct of their children. Members under
21 must be accompanied by parent/guardian on all club trips.
Section VIII: Officers:
The officers of the club will be President, Vice President, Sgt. at
Arms, Treasurer, Secretary, and Activities Director.
Officers are the first stop in any problem solving process.
Officers have the right to resolve any problems or bring them to the
membership.
Officers will hold a monthly meeting.
Officers and their vehicles will meet club standards, and the officers
will set an example to all members in participation at our events.
If the office holder quits, a replacement will be nominated and voted
in.
The officers of the club have the deciding vote in determining the standards
of perspective member’s vehicles. Current members are grandfathered
but should maintain vehicles that promote a positive club image.
Section IX: Officer Duties:
President will promote growth in the club, preside over all meetings,
and will assist in money matters. Will work hand in hand with other
clubs and keep our club informed of any important information. Will
perform such duties as usually pertain to the office. Will assist the
V.P. in solving club problems.
Vice President will conduct all meetings in the absence of the president
and will assume all duties usually pertaining to the office of the president.
Will be their first line of communication in any internal club problems.
Will also maintain contact with other clubs.
Treasurer will handle all money transactions, paid outs, dues, fines,
and deposits. Will keep the account books up to date and have the books
open to any member for reviewing.
Secretary will keep all records of club meetings, by-laws, etc. Will
take notes at all club meetings and review past topics, if needed, at
the start of each meeting. Will be used at outside meetings to keep
notes.
Sgt at Arms will oversee all meetings and see that all meetings are
orderly and use good judgment in doing so.
Activities Director will keep in touch with other clubs and club members
in order to put together cruise functions for club members. All aspects
of cruise functions will be made available to all members.
Section X: Meetings and Attendance:
Meetings shall be held monthly.
Members are required to attend at least 4 meetings per year. Attendance
is excused due to work, emergencies, etc…
Continually missing meetings will disrupt the flow of news and could
result in termination.
All club members are required to participate in club events and each
member should make every effort to attend and help at club functions.
Section XI: Revenue:
Annual dues will be $20.00 per member. Dues not paid by feb15st will
be charged a $5.00 late fee.
Membership dues will not be pro-rated or refundable.
Section XII: Amendments:
Amendments shall be submitted to the officers for case-by-case review
before becoming official.
New Amendments to Bi laws
Members after showing support for the club (attendance @ functions,
meetings, helpful participation, organization) will have the chance
to be nominated into the round table. After Nomination, at the following
meeting that prospective will be then voted upon by round table members.
Members must be voted into the round table before they can pursue officer
members
